Our 25th anniversary trip is finally here! We have been planning a 7 day Mediterranean cruise to celebrate this milestone. Our wonderful friends, Joe and Ammie were also joining us.
Our flight was at 6pm and Chris spoiled me by upgrading our seats to business class. We left early to enjoy some time in the American Airlines lounge. The first drink of the vacation had to be champagne to celebrate. The foods available were quite nice. There was freshly made guacamole and tacos including a vegan cauliflower option.
We were both so excited to board the plane as we have never experienced business class on an international flight. We each had our own little pod with a lie flat seat. Chris had the interesting experience of facing backwards. We could not see each other unless we stood up but that was fine as after dinner our plan was to get as much sleep as possible.
We were welcomed with a glass of bubbles, so we had another toast to our trip. A drink was served after take off along with a bowl of warm nuts. The appetizer was a salad and beef with horseradish over edamame guacamole. A choice of warm bread was also available. We had pre selected our meals and we both chose the beef entree with twice baked potato and squash. The beef was horrible. It smelled so bad, I truly do not know why I tasted it. No worries though as the starters filled me up along with the vegetables. For dessert, I chose the caramel tart and Chris had the ice cream sundae. My dessert was very sweet so I only tasted it but Chris enjoyed his sundae.
We both immediately turned our seats into beds and tried to get some sleep. It was so nice being able to lie down during the flight. Both of us felt pretty rested after dozing off and on through the flight until we were awakened for breakfast.
For breakfast, we both had the fruit plate with granola. The fruit was delicious. It was sweet and so very fresh. We both had juice and coffee to prepare for the day as it was about 7:15 am in Barcelona when we landed.
We love to travel and experience new places and cultures.
