After a late night, I slept until I could hear the announcement of our arrival in Bermuda which was around 8:30. After a little walk, we decided a cappuccino and pastry would be a good breakfast.
Our plan for the day was to play 18 holes of golf albeit miniature golf. Fun Golf is a course designed after famous golf holes in Bermuda, America, and Scotland. We enjoyed it very much last summer and Veronica was keen for a rematch. I started off ok but my performance I feel was impacted by my late nights. I ended up losing by two strokes but I had so many bad holes this time. Augusta National was my downfall. Fun Golf really is a beautiful course with amazing views of the water. To celebrate Veronica's win, we went to the Frog and Onion pub for Rum Swizzles. She enjoyed that drink last year on the cocktail cruise we took so we decided to try out their award winning recipe. The swizzles were so easy drinking but with the price per cocktail we paced ourselves. The waiter was surprised by her age but didn’t ask to see the ID. We split some appetizers of onion rings and local wahoo bites. Both were delicious. Veronica wanted to try the local specialty of fish chowder and really liked it with the extra spiced sherry rum on top. Our waiter was very friendly and we learned he used to work on our favorite NCL ship, the Majesty, which we sailed on to Bermuda multiple times. It was tempting to order another round but we headed back to the Summit instead. The Solarium was popular on the sea days but there were plenty of seats to be found this afternoon. We shared a comfortable bed style chair by the window and relaxed for a bit before trying out the hot tubs. The hot tubs ,while hot, did not have any functioning jets. The paint is chipping and peeling in them as well. The pool though has very nice bubbling jets as well as faucets with strong pressure to massage your back and neck. We enjoyed swimming for a bit but it felt cold after so we bundled up in towels on our bed to relax. I did some writing here as well. Soon it was time for trivia and we scored 11/15 which was a tie. The tie-breaker was facts about the host, Luca. We ended up losing the tie breaker. Veronica headed back to the cabin to get ready. I wrote for a bit more and decided to stop by the martini bar for a drink. I tried the cucumber martini which is not overly sweet but is quite refreshing. The bartenders have lots of flair which makes this a fun bar and most passengers get pretty chatty after one martini. I sent Veronica a text asking which flavor I should bring back to the cabin to have on the balcony. She picked lychee which was not my favorite I have tried. It is pretty sweet too. I went down to check the wait time at Blu and it was not busy. I told the hostess that I still had to wait for Veronica so I would go to the bar for a drink. I ordered a Negroni and enjoyed some music while waiting for Veronica. Tonight we both started with the eggplant tapenade and the lump crab martini. The eggplant portion was the largest starter so far and it had a very nice spice and heat to it. The crab martini reminded us of a tuna salad especially since it had roe on top. Veronica had the pomegranate glazed duck breast and I had the grilled ribeye. The duck was a nice main as was the ribeye. The ribeye was quite large and I only ate about 1/3 of it. The waiter joked that I cut it from the middle to which I said is the best part. For dessert, we shared the peach clafoutis with we were pleasantly surprised by. We walked around the ship after dinner and stopped to enjoy some music before the show. On the way to the theater, I stopped for an espresso martini and a pistachio eclair to take to the show. The drink was no where close to the magical one I had the night before. The pistachio eclair was not great either, not too flavorful and slightly dry. The show tonight was a magician, Jason Bird. If you read my blogs, you know we go to lots of magic shows. He was decent but nothing special. He started with a simple follow along trick that my husband taught me years ago. He did lots of classics we’ve seen plenty of times on cruises, eating razors, scarf/egg in hand, and appearing bottles. I did like his card stab trick using a drone. All in all, it was enjoyable for entertainment. At least he didn’t do the trick that I will walk out on! To end the night, we went to the Pride Party on the pool deck. The band, Seagulls, were playing and the headline singer joined for a few songs. They passed out lights for us to wave as we danced. It was a very fun party and we really have been enjoying these late night events! We stopped off at the buffet for a treat and then it was off to bed!
