With the time change and the late night, I slept in until almost 8am. Veronica woke up to join me for breakfast in Blu. I tried the French toast which wasn’t very good to me. It was also pretty cold so that didn’t help. The bacon was great, very crispy. Veronica enjoyed the eggs Benedict though.
We walked around the ship after breakfast and ended up in the casino for a bit until it was time for trivia. This trivia was “Are you Smarter than the Ship’s Officers?” It was the same as regular trivia except a group of 7 officers were on a team. They made it pretty entertaining and the questions were tough. With a score of 8.66/15, we were the winners and beat the officers! We aren’t doing too bad for a team of two! Cafe Al Bacio was the next stop for some iced lattes. All of the drinks from here have been so good. We played a bit more in the casino while we had our coffees until it was lunch time. The buffet was not as crowded since it was a little later than yesterday. We tried the Mexican station and both had some nachos. Veronica had to sample the soft serve of the day which was chocolate and strawberry. She is making sure the quality is staying the same! We tried to find seats in the Solarium but it was packed. I did find a nice spot to sit up on the Rooftop Terrace. I did some writing while Veronica napped and played on her phone. We stayed until it was time for archery in the Sky Lounge. We both enjoyed watching this activity which was a first for us to see on a cruise. I sampled two of the zodiac drinks, Scorpio and Cancer. Both were very nice afternoon drinks but not something I’d choose in the evening. We stayed for the next two round of trivia, one general and one music. We teamed up with a friendly group seated next to us. We had decent scores, 11/15 on general and 12/15 on Motown music, but came in second on both games. After changing for dinner, we went to Blu to check in for dinner as we anticipated we would need to get pagers. We went to Cellar Masters and Veronica reminded me of my other go-to cocktail, a Negroni. I enjoyed my cocktail but the wait was close to 40 minutes tonight but the hostess wanted to give us a window seat with our usual wait staff. Tonight’s menu had many great choices. I started with the Spanish style poached egg with crispy potatoes and Serrano ham. It was a nice take on patas bravas and I really enjoyed it. Veronica’s first started was the almond crusted baked Brie which was another hit. The soups have been so tasty, we each tried a different one, “Bloody Mary” gazpacho for me and Sweet Yellow Corn Veloute for Veronica. Both choices were lovely as well. Our last starter was the chilled Maine Lobster salad over soba noodles. This was the standout for me. It had some nice heat from the spicy mayo. The dish is lobster salad meets sushi and we loved it. For our mains, we both had broiled dorade with artichokes and lemon confit. The fish was cooked nicely and the sauce with the lemon was light, yet flavorful. Dessert was amazing and I think the best I have ever had on a cruise ship! We both had the chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream and caramelized bananas. Outstanding! I enjoyed my dessert with a glass of port. Another fabulous dinner on Celebrity in the books. We walked around after dinner until it was time for the show. I stopped at Cafe Bacio and ordered an espresso martini which was far better than the martini bar. The show was called Life which was a production show. It was mostly singing and dancing but with some acrobats as well. It was a decent show and I liked some of the choreography they did. After the show, we settled on the Rendezvous Lounge for live music with Ocean Beat. We had a nice time talking to a group who sat with us. After speaking with the bar manager early in the cruise, he told me to test his one bartender in this lounge, so I ordered a Manhattan. He did a decent job but I know I am spoiled by my husband’s mixology at home. My last drink, was some Macallan which is always a hit. We decided to walk to the casino to grab some water. On our way there, two ladies stopped us. They told Veronica she resembled the one lady’s son. We had a fun time chatting with them. After grabbing some waters, I did try a Press Your Luck slot machine but it was not much fun at all. Never saw a bonus. It was another late night and we went back to rest up for our first day in Bermuda.
