Jet lag can cause you to wake up early sometimes, but that helps you make the most of your day. We started with a breakfast at the Buena Vista Cafe, the location where the Irish Coffee was invented. After fueling up we walked up a massive hill to the top of Lombard street. The crookedest street in the world. The walk down was much easier and we appreciated the mild San Francisco weather. I couldn’t imagine walking up that hill with a heat index of 106! We continued our walk down to the Embarcadero to see where the Crystal Symphony is docked since she is finishing her cruise prior to our embarkation day tomorrow. After a quick stop back at the hotel we walked to pier 33 for the cruise out to Alcatraz Island. You will certainly need to plan ahead if you are interested in getting out to the island as the tours sell out about 6 weeks in advance. You would have to settle for a cruise around the harbor if you miss out on tickets but the advance planning is well worth it as the tour of the cell blocks is very well done. After a day of exploring we decided to enjoy a meal at one of the many seafood restaurants on the harbor. We chose Scoma’s and were not disappointed. Lisa had a Crab Louis salad and Chris and Veronica enjoyed cioppino. A long day of exploring this beatiful city. Tomorrow Lisa and Veronica will board the Symphony for the passage to Hawaii and Chris will wish them a Bon Voyage and head back to the east coast. Stay tuned for embarkation day.
